July this year had the auspicious event of my 40th birthday. Having spent more time than was strictly healthy being an accountant for the previous two decades, I decided that as a present to myself, my 41st year would be largely spent not being an accountant.
For a long time, I have harboured ambitions of an extended sailing trip. This trip had to be more than just a year bumming around on boats. It needed a purpose, a goal, something to achieve! To this end, I decided that a circumnavigation of Britain would be appropriate.
Unfortunately my very understanding partner cannot take off the same amount of time and consequently the trip will be largely on my own. Although I am sure she and others will join me in the sunnier, prettier parts!
It would be great if people wanted to keep track of what I’m up to. If you do, there are a number of ways depending on your level of interest!
If you want the ‘hot off the press’ updates then please do the appropriate thing in the ‘Follow Blog via Email’ bit at the top. You can unsubscribe at any time, once you’re bored of my ramblings!
For those of you with a limited attention span, quick updates will be posted to Twitter. Click the ‘Follow @Caol_Ila_R36’ button and receive the abbreviated blogs.
So here it is – my blog which will hopefully track the planning and work required up to the trip and my blog of the trip itself.
I guess we start here……
